Privacy Policy

mewd ("we", "our", or "the app") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the mewd mobile application.

Information We Collect

1. Account and Profile Information

To provide core features such as cloud backup/sync, subscription management, and cross-device access, mewd requires account sign-in via Firebase Authentication. We may collect:

• Email address
• Firebase User ID (UID)
• Account-related metadata (e.g., created date, last login, , feature flags)

This information is stored in Firebase Firestore and may also be stored locally on your device in encrypted form.

2. User-Generated Wellness and Journal Data

You can record personal wellness and journal entries in the app, including:

• Mood selections
• Open-ended reflections and journal answers
• Yes/no responses
• Selected questions and prompts
• Timestamps
• Reminders and reminder events
• Favorite quotes

This data is stored primarily locally on your device (with encryption applied where appropriate). It is not automatically sent to our servers.

3. Technical and Usage Data

• Firebase Analytics: Usage and event data (defaults to off; you can enable it in settings).
• Firebase Crashlytics: Crash reports and diagnostics (enabled by default).

Crash and analytics data may include device model, operating system version, app version, and feature usage events.

How We Use the Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide and maintain app features (authentication, subscriptions, journal tools, reminders)
• Improve app stability through crash diagnostics
• Personalize your experience (where you opt in)
• Comply with legal obligations

Ads

mewd does not currently use Google Mobile Ads or any other Ads service.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data.

Data may be shared only with:

• Service providers: Google (Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Analytics, and Crashlytics) who process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements.
• Law enforcement or other parties when required by law.

Local vs Cloud Storage

• Cloud data (account): Stored in Firebase services.
• Wellness/journal data: Primarily stored locally on your device. Only data you explicitly choose to back up or sync would be transferred to the cloud.

Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption for local sensitive storage and secure transmission to Firebase. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Locally stored data is only as secure as your device.

Your Rights and Controls

You have significant control over your data:

• Delete your account: Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account (this deletes cloud data associated with your account).
• Disable analytics: Turn off Firebase Analytics in app settings.
• Clear local data: Uninstall the app or clear app storage through your device settings.

Data Retention

• We retain cloud data only as long as necessary to provide the service, fulfill legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce agreements.
• Locally stored wellness/journal data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
• Aggregated or de-identified diagnostic data may be retained longer for product improvement.

Children’s Privacy

mewd is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the minimum digital consent age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will be revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
